Aria Tesolin Named September “Best Vocalist Of The Month” With Her Song “Dolce”

Aria Tesolin, a promising, classical-pop/AC singer & writer based in Toronto, ON, Canada, has won the September SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The Month” Competition, for her performance of her song “Dolce” (co-written by Popi Fabrizio). “Dolce” will be included on her next independent release, which is due out at the end of this year (2011).

“Dolce” is a graceful, classical/pop ballad which provides a fine showcase for Tesolin’s singing and writing ability. This song starts off with an acoustic piano track, and then builds momentum with a elegant string arrangement and a soaring chorus melody. The most impressive aspect of this recording is Tesolin’s wide vocal range–she begins the song singing in a deep, rich voice, and then goes into a higher soprano range in the chorus. “Dolce” was expertly produced by Douglas Romanow, a prominent Canadian producer who played all the instrumental tracks on this cut.

Tesolin, who is 18, grew up in the city of Mississauga (near Toronto). She started singing at a very young age, and she also learned to play some piano (for her songwriting). She was inspired by listening to such varied artists as Andrea Bocelli, Elliott Smith and Corinne Bailey Rae. Notably, when she was eight, she started singing as a guest performer on concerts by Canada’s Three Tenors, in front of large audiences at Mel Lastman Square and Nathan Phillips Square. Tesolin has also performed at several charity events on behalf of Sickkids Hospital and Free The Children.

When she was 12, Tesolin recorded and released her debut album, Baby Soprano, which featured her performances of 14 popular opera arias. This album received good exposure, which led to the eight tracks generating digital sales overseas in several countries including Italy, France, Germany and Japan.

Following this initial success, Tesolin decided to develop her songwriting, creating songs in a more contemporary style which combined classical and AC/pop. “I’m in the process of creating a full-length album of original music,” said Tesolin. “I don’t have a lot of my original music out there, so I want to do that.” She recently worked with producer Douglas Romanow on two songs: “Dolce” and “The Key.” Another song which she wrote both the music & lyrics is “Now That I Know.”

In addition to her recording, Tesolin looks forward to performing live more. She will be performing soon at the Toronto Independent Music Awards as one of the showcase artists, and she’s in discussions to perform in a concert tour.

Notably, Tesolin has been featured on many Canadian news and TV networks, including CityTV, CTV: The National, CTV Toronto, Global News and OMNI and Rogers.
